PROTEST AGAINST TAXES. Crippling Industry.
(Keoeived This Day, 1 p.m.) PARIS, April 27. _ As a protest against State and municipal charitv taxes, which are declared to be crippling industrv, the National Theatre Oongress at Nice resolvod to close all Ffetich theatres, idling 100,000 persons. The resolution will I)e operated on Alay 15, unless Parliament is summoned specially to give relief by amending the Biidgct, iis it at present stands convoked till the end of Alay. * The chief objeetion is to the charity tax, known as the riglit- of the poor.
