IN THE EVENING.
At the hall held in the evening at the Hastings Assembly Hall, Mr Wlford, who was introduced by Mr Coates, presented the prizes. In the course of a most inspiring address, Mr Wilford remarked, "If war were declared to-morrow our fleet would go to Singapore. We would have our landforts and our foot soldiers to defend us," and then we went on to say how well he realised that aviation should be encouraged and developed as a potential defensive. He would, be said, do all he could for the promotion of flying and especially among young people. Mr Wilford then presented the prizes. including the Kessell Cup for the highest aggregate, won by Captain White. After receiving the Blue Ribbon Cup, the captain was enthusiastically "chaired" and marched round the hall on the shoulders of admirers. Cheers were called for and willingly given and the gathering joined in the singing ot "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow." Dancing was then resumed until midnight.
