.VERY SIMPLE DISGUISE. CARTRIDGE OF BROWX DTJST. Wlien Tnsepector Mackay, of tbe Sydney Oriminal Investigation Branch, passed through America iately, be examined many disguised weapons used in the underworld. There were fountan pens which discharged a bullet, and revolvers in tbe guise of pipes. A weapon of even more subtle danger was found and seized by tbe Darlinghurst police last weelc, wlien the police raided an alleged sly grog-sliop at Woolloomooloo. Tbis is a steel telescpe barrel which might easily be fitted into the palm of a man's hand. It discharges a cartridge of brown dust-like substance. Altliough they bave had no previous experience of such a weapon, the police believe tliat tlie brown substance, if fired at anyone, would temporarily blind him. To establish the police suspicions, cartridges which fifc into the weapon are to be sent to the Government Analyst for expmination.
