HASTINGS UNITED v. NAPIER Y.M.C.A. A GOOD GAME. Played in glorious weather, on a perfect ground, Napier Y.M.C.A. met and drew witli Hastings United. Hastings won tho toss and Young set the hall rolling. . Hastings took very little time in settling down. their left wing taking ihe ball on tlie run, liis centre going wide. Y.kf. then got going, but they were pulled up for off-side. Simmonds. Hastings, made a good run down tlie wing, ccntring well up, hut it was well saved bv Thompson. Off-side again spoilt Y\M. eliances. From the free kick, Hastings again r ttacked, their hotli wing men playing well. Thompson again saved Y.M. Vannaii sent in a good corner for Y.M., 1 ut it went astray. Hastings drew first Iilood, their forwards hringing the hall well up and nassins from one to the otlier. Rohinson finallv openod tlie seore bv putting it well into tlie back of the net. Half-time sounded soon after with tlie srore — Hastings United 1 Y.M.C.A 0 Tlie sororiTI half saw Hastings again on tlie attack. and they were awarded a free kick just outside the penalty aroa. Tlie attempt failed and play rei ii'",'ec] fo safer territory. Y.M. then made a great rush and Yo'mg oqunlised with n good goal. Tloartened hv this Y.M. continued tlie pressure, hut Hastings beat them bnok and from a melee in front of the Y.M. coal tlie ball went off Moss into his own goal. putting Hastings once n.o'"e in the lead. Y.M.. however, were not te be daimted and shovtlv before time J. Clarke followed up a long shot and put it into the net, equalising tlie srnre. There was no further score when the final whistle blew.
