HASTINGS DEFEAT WAIMARAMA.
Waimarama, who created a. surprise the previous week hy accounting for H.S.O.B., had a " great hattle with Hastings on Nelson Park, Hastings. The latter played with a fair breeze to lielp them in the first spell, hut despite this they could not penetrate the defence, and when half-time was called tlie onl.v score was a penalty registered hy Hollis for Hastings. At times the play was a bit too hard to be enjoyable, and this state of affairs continued in tlie second spell, with the result that the referee had to issue a warning to one of tho Waimarama j players. _ Early in the. second spell Hastings livened up and Hollis crossed near the post. He converted liis own try. Waimarama pressed hard for a long period and a good passing bout ended in Carroll crossiug. Time was called iminediately witli -Hastings winners by 8 to 3. j Mr J.
