FROM THE AIR
FLOOD AREA SURYEYED. Captain White Performs Useful Service. Distinctly useful service was performed by Captain T. W. White, pilot instructor to the Hawke's Bay Aero Club, who yesterday afternoon flew the club's 'plane over the flooded area and in the course of his flight located a number of stranded sheep and informed their owner of their position, stating that boats would he needed to rescue them. He covered all the flooded areas of Pakowhai, Fernhill, Clive, Meanee, Taradale and Awatoto. "Practically the whole area that includes those districts," he said, "is one single sheet of water — right from Tomoana to Napier and back towards Fernhill. Clive is dry on the southern side of the river, but on the other side seems to be as deeply flooded as it was on Wednesday."
