A VALUAJBLE CLEARANCE. The dispersal sale of the Avoudale stud held on Tuesday at the Palmerston North saleyards and eonducted by .Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., in conjunctiun with Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., attraeted a l'air at■Aendance ot breeders. Prices were on % low hasis throughout, although a complete clearance was made of the catalogue of 110 head. Wliile the cottle were tvell bred and the older stoek were in good condition, the faet that the herd had not been competmg in showring competitions and was thcrcfore comparatively an nnknown qnality huying was restricted. Prohahly the ehoioe lot of the ofl'ering was the rising three-yenr-old lieifer Eliton of Avondale by Quality of Mangatoro from one of the old Gladbrook cows of the fnmous Kaffir strnin. vShe was purchased hy Al r IV. 1). Llunt for his new stud in Soutliland at o0 guineas. The same huyer secnred the six-year-old eow Erma of Mangatoro by Victor of Harichie (ini]i) from Erma of ^royness 3rd (imp) at 33 guineas. Mr Kinross White secnred the threo-year-old heifer, Fandago of Avondale hy Preniier of [Mangatoro out of Puth of [Mangatoro at 30 guineas, mid Mr R. Peans, Riccarton, paid 31 guineas for a four-vear-old daughter of the same sire out of Queen of Braeside. Mr MT. D. Hunt was the largest purchaser, securing 31 head. Mr "W. G. Khannon, Palmerston Nortli, secured 21 liead. Pui'ehases were also made for new lierds about to he estahlished in Ffawera, Levin. Johnsonville and Marlborough distriots. Furtlier ovidence of the inquiry for Aherdeen Angus c-attle was apparent in tlie faet that a number of feniales wero also purchased with which to esfahli.sh a herd at Fairlie.
