ZEPPELINS FOR WAR
NOT AN ECONOMIC UN1T. FAR TOO MUCH RISK. Speoial to Telegraoti. AUCKLAND, This day. Germany has lost faitli in Zeppelins as useful units in warfare, according to tlie officers on the German cruiser Ejnden. Only one officer wlio served in the Zeppelin hranch of the German navy remains in the German navy to-day. The death of Captain Strasser, the intrepid leader of the Zeppelin raids, and the loss of the squadron of five giant airsliip lecl by him, wliich were driven off the English coast by British airmen, damped the German air- : man's ardour for this class of raiding unit. Two of the five ships were sliot down, while tlie remaining three drifted across tlie Frencli front and all liands were killed. "The visk," stated an Emdeu officer to-day, "was out of all proportion to tbe railitary value. "Zeppelins will be used merely for commerce in the future. A regular line from Germany to America and to 8pain is aimed at."
