A SERIOUS ACCIDENT

ANOTHER YOUNG LAD INJURED. KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR. A serious occident occurred on the Hastings-Havelock road shortly after five o' clock 011 Saturday afternoon, and as a result a 14-year-old lad named Maurice Brooker, whose parents_ reside ia Maddison street, Hastings, is now an inmate of the Napier Hospital, 111 a serious condition, suffering from a rractured skull. It is learned that the lad was ridmg a bicycle rouud the corner of St. Andrew's road into Heretaunga street, towards his home, when a car driven by Mr M. Cunuingham, of Whakatu, crossed the intersection at tlie same time, and going 111 the same direction, caught the cycle and knocked the boy hcavily. Tlie dnver of the car at once stopped and went back to l-ender assistance. It was seen that the boy was badly hurt and medical aid was immediately called. Tlie unfortunate lad was at once taken by ambulance to tlie Napier Hospital, wbere last night it was reported that his condition was still serious, but slightly miproved. Inquiry to-dny elicited tlie fact that there was 110 further change in his condition.
