(Eeoeived This Day, 1 p.m.) SYDNEY, Tbis day. Lismore advices state tbat ihe Rich- . mond river is ri&ing rapidly and is now 29 feet above normal. About 80 families bave abandoned tbeir liomes and 200 bouses in various parts of tbe town are surrounded by water. On Saturday a 70-mile per bour gale struck the district, driving before it torrential rain, resulting in flooded oreeks and rivers. At Lismore many people were trapped in tbeir bomes and several are missing. Fire added to tbe terror at Ballina, wbere flames, fanned by the gale, gutted tbe principal business section. ^ Tlie damage is estimated at £30,000. Eight incbes of rain fell at Lismore in 48 liours. . A lull in tlie storm removed immediate danger. AA AA .fVA iA»\
