Immediately on retirement of Cliief Inspector Wensley, bead of tbe Criminal Investigation Department, Scotland Yard, it is announced tbat the Chicago police authorities had cabled offering Chief Inspector Wensley a post in an advisory capacity witb _a view to strenuous efforts to clear Chicago of its gangs, murderers and tbieves. Chief Inspector Wensley is awaitmg tlie arrival of an agent, who is bringing details of the offer. Chief Inspector Wensley' s retirement from bead' of the Criminal Investigation Department of Scotland Yard ends tbe career of a man whom Sir Ricbard Muir described as 'tlie greatest detective of all time.
