Board To Meet. The montlily meeting of the Waipawa Hospital Board will be held on Wednesday. Dreary Day. Yesterday was a dreary day in Waipawa. Very little rain fell, but a cold nortb-east wind blew hard most of tbe day, making tlie conditions outside most unpleasant. Bad Weather. Heavy wind was experienced at Waipukurau yesterday acompanied by cold, frequent showers. During the night tlie wind's velocity inereased, conditions being very unpleasant. Church Services. The Bishop of Waiapu (Dr. Sedgwick) took tlie services at St. Peter's Churcli, W'aipawa, yesterday. The 11 o'clock rnorning service, which took the forni of a thanksgiving service for the King's recovery, was largely attended. Hard LTiick. It is understood that there is not much chance of Sherratt, Waipukurau, being well enough to represen't Hawke's Bay on Wednesday in the JRugby representative game with Wraikato, as Sheratt is suffering with a nose injnry received in a previous game. Thanksgiving Services. Services of thanksgiving to commemorate the return to health of His Majesty, Kipg George V. were lield in the various churches at Waipukurau yesterday, there being packed congregations throughout. The services were appropriate to the occasion, and were marked by devout thankfulness for His iMajesty's recovery. School Rugby. An interesting and close game of scliool Rugby was played at Paki Paki between teams represeuting Paki Paki, Pukaliu and Poukawa, and Fernhill and Puketapu. Tlie loeal team proved tlie victors after a hard game by ten points to six. This is the first of a series of games to he played among ihe country scliools for the McKee Shield. Paki Paki School, The monthly meeting of tlie Paki Paki School Oommittee was held on Friday, Mr Anderson presiding over Messrs Barclay, Williams and Betley. The committee received with regret the resignation of Mr Pryor as headmaster of the scliool. Mr Pryor has been appointed to a position in Palmerston North and leaves for his new duties on the 31st of this month. Waipawa Golf. Tlie lady memhers of the Waipawa Golf Oluh will play a match on Wednesday, with the ladies of the Mount Herbert Club. The Waipawa "representative s will be selected from the following players : — Mesdames Limbrick, Lee, Woods, Pickett, J. Clark, McLeod, Edwards, White, Houghton, and "Walcott, Misses J. Ratnbone, McLeod, Walker, Howard, Moroney, and Witherow. "Uncle Tom's Cabin." WTien the stoiy of "Uncle Tom's Cabin" was written who could foresee that one day it would he made into a mqtion picture, as a cost of £600,000. Millions have seen tlie stage play, but none have ever actually seen the immortal story as it was written until they liave seen it produced in all its gloi-y as a motion picture. "Uncle Tom's Cabin," with good supports, will be sereened at Tikokino nest Tliursday, Otane Friday, Onga Onga Saturday. Matinee at Onga Onga at 2.30 p.m. Waipawa Rugby, A football match was played on Coronation Park Waipawa, on Saturday rnorning between the B team of the Hastings District High School and tlie Waipawa District High School A team. The visitors were considerably heavier than the home team and it was expected they would have a rather easy victory, but the Waipawa boys sliowed greatly improved form and kept up an excellent defence right througli the game. Hastings won by three points — an imconverted try. Mr W. V. Hohin was the referee, Function at Taradale, The annual reunion of .the Taradale and district hranch of the Returned Soldiers' Association will be held in tlie Taradale Town Hall on Wednesday, J uly 10. All ex-servicemen and friends are cordially invited. The re-unions are always of an exceedingly pleasant character and are looked fonvard to bv those who have had the nleasere of attending any of the former functions of the sort. A free nus will run from Napier at 7.30 p.m. A specially good programme has been prepared fo.r the present occasion and the re-union should be a very pleasant one. A Big Attendance. The very keen interest being displayed in Central Hawke's Bay in Rugby was sliown at Waipukurau on Saturday by tlie_ big attendance at Central Park. Not for many years lias the attendance at a club contost been so great, visitors being present from all over Central Hawke's Bay. Those who were visiting the new park for tlie first time were loud in their praiso of the splendid new ground, the opinion heing exprcssed that the suh-union now possesses one of the hest grounds in the province. The now stand is heing well patronised. Reginald Denny, Waipukurau. Tlie trials and ■trihulations of a young assistant District- Attorney wlio is conducting a cnmpaign against speeders only to fall in love with a chronic olfender, a beautiful and wealthy girl, is the plot of "Red Hot Speed," tlie hilariously funny comedy starring Reginald Denny, whicli will be sereened at the Waipukurau Theatre to-morrow night. Reginald Denny needs no introduction. The story moves rapidly with dozens of screamingly funny situations. "Red Hot Speed" provokes eontinuons gales of laughter. On the same programme is a faithful screen presentation *of the beautiful opera gem "Rigoletto." This is too good to miss. Also Our Gang in a howl of mirth entitled "Growing Pains." Reserves at Wood's. Note: Pictures will not he sereened on Wednesday.
