THANKSGIVING SERVICE Wireless Carries To All Parts MOST MOYING MOMENT
(Eeceived This Day. Noon.) RUGBY, July 7. Tlie tbanksgiving services for the King's recovcry were beld in tbe cburebes tbrougbout tbe Empire today. Most of tliem were modelled upon the service beld in Westminster Abbey, at whicli tbe King liimself, togethcr with tbe Queen and eiglit otber uiembers of tbe Royal family were present. Although tbe principal statesmen of tlie country, tbe Corps Diploinatique, ancl great numbers of representative people were present, tbere was an absence of uniform and tbe nave of tlie Abbey was filled by tbe general publie. Tbe Abbey service was relayed tbrougb tbe Broadcasting Corporation to tbe whole country and many ch_urches,_ equipped with -wireless receivers, incorporated the Abbey proceediugs in tbeir own services. Everywhere, 011 tlie King's suggestion, tbe' offertories were devoted to tbe hospitals. The King and Queen drovo from Buckiiigliam Palace to tbe Abbey in an open carriage and 011 arrival at tbe great west door, they were cdnducted to tbeir places in tbe Presbytery. The hymns were led by tbe organ and the band of the Grenadier Guarcls. Perliaps tlie most moving mornent in tlie service was when, after tbe roll of drums, tbe Dean spoke the words, "God Save tbe King, God save this Realm, God give us tbankful bearts." Immediately tbere_ was a fanfaro of trumpets, after wbicb the ■ congregation sang the first verse of the National Antbem.
