SYDNEY, July 17. At Armidale to-dav superior combination and condition enabled tlie AU Blacks to triumph over a combined country team' by 27 points to eight. The weather was deligbtfnl. The game was played in the presence of 6000 spectators drawn from nianv miles. Disappointment was fclt at tlie nonappearance of Porter and Nepia. Thc latter was admitted to tlie Armidale Hospital to-day suffering from iufluenza. The country team was witliout its speedv i'ull-back, O'Connor, wbo gashed a leg with an axe. The teams were : — All Blacks : Carleton, Geddes, Stringfellow, Watermaii, Hook, Cundy, Leys. Cotterell, Souter, Palmer, Mahony, Sonntag, Ivivell. Ivika, Reside. Country: Nelson, Ebert, O'Shanuessy, Bocithwick, Smitli, Werner, Croft, lreland, Delbridge, Hunsie, Lamb, Richardson, Davidson, Britton, Laycock. Country won tlie toss and tlie AJ1 Blacks had to play with tlie sun in tbeir faces. The lioine team attacked and kept the visitors defending for the first few minutes till Stringfellow seeured tlie ball and passed to Lcys, who sent it back to Hook. The last-named passed back to Stringfellow, _ wlio crossed the line in a liandy position. Cundy added tlie extra points. Country again pressed Iiard and Ebert intercepted smartly, but a scrum followed for a knock-on. A penalty to the home side gave Ebert a chance to goal amidst inucli applause. A few minutes later Cundy initiated a great movement, the ball passing to Stringfellow, to Cotterell and across the field to Rika, t-hence to Reside, but tlie last named knocked on when a try was witliiu his gi'asp. The home team's tackling was good and the handling of the ball improved as tlie game progressed. The next score to the Blacks canie from a passing movement. in which Cotterell, Hook, Stringfellow and Cundy narticipated, the latter just scrambling over at tlie corner. His kick at goal failed. The home forwards were now putting up a great game, hut tlie backs were too light. Laycock, Country' s cantain, tried a two-tliree-two pack with success, for the spare man, lreland, secnred from a scrum and scored between the posts. Ebert added the goal. Another nnconverted try by Stringfellow made the scores at halftinie : All Blacks 11 Country 8 Soon after resumption the visitors attacked strongly. Cottrell was pulled down by Britton, hut Stringfellow raced np, took tlie ball and scored in the corner. Hook, who was playing a brilliant game. was responsible for the next score. When he was going for the line he was brought down, bnt managed to transfer to Geddes, who outpaced the field and crossed. Cundy kicbed a great goal. Tlie crowd was thrilled by tlie liandling of the All Blacks, and when Sonntag secured and passed to Cundy, to Hook, to Stringfellow and on to Watennan, who scored near the posts, the incident fairlv hrought down tlie stand. Carleton' s attempt at goal failed. Just hefore tlie ffnal hell Leys started a movement in wliich Geddes and Palmer figured, the last-named scoring between the posts. Cundy Jricked for the aoal, the ball striking the bar and rolling over, making the fiiial scores : — All Blacks 27 Country 8 Hook, Stringfellow and Cundy were the outstanding players of the day.
