PALMERSTON N., Last night. Wairarapa to-day defeated Manawhenua by 12 points to _ ten. The half-time score was ten — nil in favour of Manawhenua. It was a match of halves, Mill doing brilliant work for Wairarapa in the second half. The Shield holders picked tlie game out of the fire when tlie whole back line liandled to score tlie winning try in the last minute. Dalziell and Boldt scored, Fletclier and Tataua converting respectivelv for Manawhenua. Wairarapa's score comprised tries -hy -Durie. M. Wiljoughhy and Burgess. and Fuller kicked a penalty. The match was played on a drying ground.
