(Eeoeived This Day, Noun.. LONDON, July 17. A messag-e from Perim states tliat the British steamer, Tongariro, bound from Bowen to London, is ashore, five miles south-east of Basalara. She is afloat aft and is not making water. She has requested assistance. The Tongariro lias been owned by the New Zealanfd Shipping Company for about five years. Slie is a cargo boat of about 8729 tons register.i She was trading between Australian ports, Great Britain and Hamburg.
