MEMORIAL SERVICE
TI-IE EEV. IV. G. SLADE AT WESTSHORE. j PASSING OF TWO N0BLE WOMEN. Tlie Westshore Methodist Church j was packed on Sunday afternoon, when \ a special memorial service was held to the memory of the late Mrs Stitson and Miss Mitchell. The Rev. IV. G. Slade., M.A., conducted the service and paid tribute to the memory of iNIi's Stitson, saying that her life had been spent in the fullest measure in the name of, and for her Master, Jesus Christ. Her liome had ever heecn an open one to serve those who laboured in the service of Christ, and her choice Cliristian spirit had heen an inspiration to all who liad heen privileged to come in contact with her. Speaking of Miss Mitchell, Mr Slade regretted that his short association witli the work in the Westshore circuit was ■such that he f'elt unable to do fnll justice to one who had laboured unceasingly in their midst for over 33 years. J 11 all weathers, never considering herself, Miss Mitchell was found at her post, l)Oth as organist in the cliurcli and teacher in tlie Sunday School. Her loyalty in the service of the Master was of an outstanding character, and she had rightly lieen called the unpaid deaconcss of ihe 'Shore. Miss Mitchell's sterling Cliristian character had macle itself felt not only at tlie 'Shore, hut in many liomes m Nanier and in Ihe surrounding distriot, ancl she had left a rioh memory which would long abide in the liearts and miuds of many who had come under her influence in church nnd Sunday ! School.
