OMAHU ROAD LIGHTS

THE FLRST SWITCHING ON. LAST NIGHT'S EVENTS. The new installation of elechric lights, extending from Stortford Lodge to the main entrance of the Memorial Maternity Home in the Omahu road, came into action last night for the first time. Each light is 200 candle power, hung on an extended hracket, tixed to a power pole. The lights are very powerful and illuminate the road well. Mr C. Lassen, who was instrumental in gettiug the installation, is endeavouring to liave the lights suspended over the centre of the Omahu road. similar to that in Heretaunga street, Hastings. Tlie distribution of light by this means woulcl be equalised.
