ROSS SHIELD COMPETITION. .... - .. . .... * An excellent display of school football was given on McLean Park on Saturday, when the Napier primary. scliools met tlie " Hastings primary scliools in the semi-final of tlie Ross Sbield competition, victory .going to Napier by 13 points to 5. The class of football was really good for: boys, there being some quite bright : patches. Hastings scored first, Howard' going across and converting it. Comer then dropped a fine goal for Napier and.a little later put over a penalty shot, .making the half-time score 7 — 5. In the second half, Comer scored a try and Gilray also crossed, making the finaJ score 13—5 in Napier's favour. Mr H. Chote held the whistle.
