Heavy Rain. Heayy rain fell in Waipukurau yesterday afternoon and continued throughout the niglit. Spring Showers. Mikl Spring-lilje rains have been falling in Norsewood for a couple of days and nights and will prove a refreshing balm to the pastures and encourage a vigorous growth. Rissington Society. A dramatic society has been formed, in Rissington in conjunction with the hall. Much interest lias been taken in connection with the society. Everyone is looking forward to the first performanee. Poisoned Food. Immediately following a nieal of preserved tongues a resident of Woodville was seized with a violent fit of vomiting. The victim, who has been receiving medical treatment, was in a critical condition. The impression is that he has been a victim of ptomaine poisoning. Power Stoppages. Considerable _ stoppages _ of liydroelectric power in the Wairoa district have been occurring very frequently of late and many users are being considerably inconvenienced thereby. These interruptions have occnrred so much lately that business people are much concerned in the matter. Rabbit Levy. Woodville fanners have receiyed notification tlirough legal authorities that unless the Hawke's Bay Rabbit Board's levy is paid forthwith they are to he prosecuted. It is understood that a test case is to be made, ais some farmers, hesides_ having no i'ahbits on their properties, are in two rabbit board districts. Westshore Dance. Dancers are reminded of the Westshore School bait, to be held on Thursday and Friday nights. The first night will be for adults and the second for the children till 10. A good floor, supper and music will he provided, so everybody attending is assured of a good night' s amusement. Cars leave Clive Square, and ferry leaves the Iron pot at 7.30 p.m., returning after the dance. Waikaremoana. Tlie official opening of the AYaikaremoana hydro-elecfcric scheme is to take place towards the end of November, m all prohability on November 22. The Minister of Puhlic Works, the Hon. E. A. Ransom, is to attend the funct'ion, wliich is being organised by the Wairoa Power Board. The Hawke's Bay Power Board has appointed Messrs A. Hobson, H. Hill and W. Havvey to»co-oper-ate with the Wairoa Power Board in making arrangepients. Taradale Jubilee. At the opening of the_ Taradale District Scliool jubilee, which takes place 111 the Taradale Park on Saturday, the great event of the afternoon wiil he the contest lietween Taradale and Greenmeadows for the Dolhel Cup, when the stalwarts of each district try conclusions in this popular _ football fixture. Tlie friendly rivalry is shared by their supporters and barrackers. Klany merry jests enliven the proceedings. The basketball and Rugby tournaments will be inteVesting features, commencing at 12 (110011). On Monday the children' s fancy dress parade will start from the Memorial at 2 p.m. Addresses hy prominent speakers, old teachers and pupils will take place in the afternoon. In the evening there will he the grand jnbilee hall and on Tuesday night the chilclren's hall. Primary School Rugby. The final match for the Ross Shield to be held by the best primary subunion in Hawke's Bay will be played 011 Saturday next, as a curt'am raiser to the Central Hawke's Bay v. Napier-Hastings Sub-Union representative match. The northern section lias been won by the Napier Sub-union, whilst the Central Hawke's Bay primary lias won the sonthern section, therefore these two teams will meet to decide tlie supremacy. Mr L.
