The weather, altliough somewhat improved, has not allowed a great deal of work to be.done. i Prepare tlie ground for potatoes. The sets should be put in boxes to sprout prior to planting. Sproutcd sets allow a more even planting of sets, witli the result that a better c-rop is obtaiued. Pea's can be sowii. To protect the young plants from birds run two strands of hlack cotton along tlie row, and about two inehes of the ground. It must be black cotton, wliite is 110 use. _ Asparagus beds must receive atteutiou clean off all weeds and apply a dressing of nuuiure. New beds of asparagus can be prepared now ready for planting next month. Onion plaiiting can be done, and whei'e the plants were in early the ground will require lioeing. Grounds should he ready for tlie Spring sowing of onions. ' Altliough the liiost popular method is planting Autumn sown plants, Spring sowing gives good results. Make a sowing of leek, cabhage, broecoli, BrusseLs sprouts, cauliflower and parsnips. All these require sowing early if to give best results.
