THE BUNFIELD INQUEST^ Wife Committed For Trial.
SYDNEY, Aug. 29. The Bunfield inquest was resumed to-day. William Kelly, a neigbbouring farmer, deposed that he had a conversation jvith Bunfield some time ago, when Bunfield casually remarked that his wife was a very sick woman, hysterical and neurotic. Timothy McMabon, from an adjoining station, gave evidence that he was summoned to the Bunfield home the day Bunfield died. He said that Bunfield was very ill. Witness suggested to Bunfield that he possibly was suffering from ptomaine poisoning. Bunfield replied: "It cannot be that." He then admitted that he ate tinned peaches which tasted "mighty bitter." Henry Bunfield, aged 14, the son of deceased, gave evidence tbat he opened a tin of peaches. His father served the peaches with custard, but his mother had no custard. His fatber became ill shortly afterwards. Henry put bis finger down his own throat and vomited. His fatber said, "Did you taste anything bitter about those peaches?"and witness replied, "No." Mrs Bunfield, who arrived at the courthouse before the inquiry ended, deelined to give evidence. She was committed for trial on a charge of having caused her hushand's death by poisoning.
