Gerrard being tlie aggrcssor, with liis hard left. In the second round, however, it was Afurphy who forced the pace, hut lie could not keep out of tlie way of that left. It was a good serap, won by Gerrard. Semi-finak L. Gerrard (X.E.L.) v. A. Bower C Co. Bowcr was the better hoxcr but Gerrard was very aggressive and did all tlie leading. Bower did much bctter in the second round seoring well rvitli his straight left, but there were few thrills in the bout. At the end there was nothing hetween them and an extra lialf minute ivas ordered. Tn tliose 30 secailds Gerrard forced tlie pace and Bower retuliated and nt tlie end tlie verdict went to Bower. Kemp AI.G. Co. v. F. Bennie 6th. F.A. — Kemp was forced to smother a lot by his aggressive opponent but he stuck to his guns. although he took »a lot of _ pnnishment. Bennie was an easv winner. T. Wilson Af.G. Co. v. D. McKonnio N.E.L. — AAilson had a big pull in heiglit and reach. lmt AfcTvennic was a veritable tornado and had liis blows

Tlio second session was the firsfc repeated, with AlcKennie shooting wikl blows in all directions, it being AVilson's reach and height that savcd him from getting into serions troublc. AlcKennie was the winner. AYeltcrweight. R. AY. Horne AI.G. Co. v. B. Duke (Al.R.) This was a fireworks cxhibition. Both wero out for an earlv finish and both took a great deal of pnnishment, Horne being dropped as tlie first gong sounded. Jn tho second ell'ort, both again went "all out," wiih Duke doing the best work hut Horne attacked with vigour and turned tlie tables. haviug Duke on the defonsive as tlie gong went.
