IN THE AIR
NEW 'PLANE ON THE WING. A SUCCESSFUL TRIAL. The officials of the Hawke's Bay Aero Club lost no time in assembling the new Spartan 'plane, which arrived in Hastings on Tuesday, and late yesterday afternoon, it was taken for a trial spin by Captain White. In conversation with a Telegraph reporter this morning Captain White stated that the 'plane went perfertly on its trial flight, and he expressed the opinion that it would prove a very valuable asset to the club. Both the Moth and the Spartan were in the air together at one stage of the flight, and it was noticed that the engine of the new 'plane had a much heavier drone than that of the Moth, and also that its fuselage was much larger. In connection with the coming visit to Hastings of five 'planes from Auckland, a meeting is to he held in the Hastings Borough Council Chambers at 4 p.m. to-morrow, to arrange for the entertainment of the visiting airmen.
