BRITISH PREMIER'S TASK ' "Jolly Good Fellow" Browns "Red Flag" * MR MACDONALD FAREWLLLED

LONDON, Sept. 28. -Mr MacDonald had a wonderful sendoff on his historic mission to tbe United States. Crowds gathered at Waterloo station in tlie evening to ' witness Iiis departure to Southampton to board the Berengaria. Distinguishe'd people liad to fight tlieir way through thousands t-o reach the platform. During the struggle Mr Toru Sbaw, War Minister, lost his watch. General Dawes and inany members of Gahinet were waiting when the Premier, with his daughter Ishbel, arrived. There were resounding cheers when Mr MacDonald and Ishbel stood together for the photograpliers. Then the Bremier and General Dawes faced a battery of cameras. The train sloiyly steamed out fifteen minutes late amid redoubled cheers and the singing of "He's a Jolly Good Fellow," . completely drowning "The Red Flag." On arrival at Southampton the Premier was looking tired, but otlierwise well. He was condncted to a luxurious self-contained suite, wliich was intended for the ex-Ivaiser before the war, when the Berengaria was called the Imperator.
