Within the nest few davs a shiprneiit of 300 tons of coal will be arriving from Westport at Waikokopu for the Publie Works Department and Wairoa freezing tworks. The following week 350 tons will be landed for the boring operatious at Mangaone for the Taranaki Oilfields, Ltd. A large sunspot will be in a position ^ on the face of the sun favourable for M observation within the next few days. The opening of the United Croquet Cluh's greens in Nelson Park was held on "Wednesday. His Worsliip the Mayor, Mr J. Vigor Brown, in a very happy speseh, declared the _ greeens open for play and hit tlie first ball tlirough the hoop.
