Mr and Mrs T. W. Vickery, of Invercargill, are visiting Napier. Mrs J. Bond Grove. of Wellington, is at present visiting Napier. Mrs A. Samuel, of New Plymouth, is at present on a visit to Napier. Miss A. Brewster, of New Plymouth, is on a visit to Napier at present. Mrs Louis Blundell, of Wellington, is visiting Napier, with Mr H. P. Blundell. Mr and Mrs James Burke, of Sydney, are visiting Napier and are guests at the Masonic Hotel. M. Paderewski, the famous pianist, has undergone an operation in Switzerland for appendicitis. Hs is now in his 69th year. Lord Reginald Brahazon, the 12th Earl of Meath and a prominent figure in Irisli political affairs, died at the age of 88 years. — Gable. Mr J. P- I\enny, of Napier, secretary of the Napier Harbour Jloard, returned hy the express train last 'night from a tour of Ameriea and Europe. Mr George Latliam. of Shakespeare road, Napier, is at present confined to his bed and will be entering a private Jiospital ' at the early part of next week. The Rey. G. V. Gerard has heen appointed vicar of Pahiatua. Mr Gerard was an assistant curate at Timaru, from which position he went back. to England for experience. During the war he had a commission in the Buffs, and was awarded tlie Military Cross.
