BIG DOUBLE STAR BILL, MAJESTIC, TO-NIGHT.
"Afterwai'ds," based on the novel by Baroness Orczy, is to be t-he attraction at tbe Majestic Tlieatre to-night. Tlns is a British-made fiim starring Marjoi'ie Hurne and Julie Suedo, with a big cast of English and Continental stage and screen favourites. Marjorie Hume, whom, so far as we know, makes her debut to Australian and New Zealand audiences in "Afterwards," is a very beautiful and talented actress who will delight many with her refined and expressive work. As the _wi_fe of an English army officer, victimised by the strange spite of an eccentric French maid, she gives a sympathetic and appealing portrayal of her role which will evoke the strongest admiration. Julie Suedo as the French maid handles a diffieult role with a hue sense of the dramatic. J. R. Tozer and Cecil Barry, two noted British actors, have important male roles. The film has followed Baroness Orczy' s hook very olosely, some of the dramatib highlights being even more moving than they were in the thrilling novel. This will mean a lot to the movie-goer who is' also acquainted with the colourful nnd eventful work of Baroness Orczy. Metro-Goldwvn-Mayer ai-e distributing "Afterwards" in Anstralia and New Zealand, and this company can he congratulated on its selection of a film so much above 1 he average _ of English production. The supporting picture, "A Peep Behind the Scenes," is_ a romantic drama of backstage life. Seats may he reserved at the Bristol Piano Co., or by theatre 'phoue, 2708.
