Seasonal Opefiing Of Bluff Hill Green EXCELLENT AVEATHER RULES The various Napier bowling greeijs were well populated on Saturday, when bolwers availed themselves of the exeellent conditions prevailing, basking in the rays of King Sol. The ofiical opening of the Bluff Hill Chib's green for the season was perfonned hy t-he J club's president, Mr R. C. Tennent, in i a Jiappy speecli, during the course oi which he referred in happy terms to the presence of the ladies, thankiug them for the interest taken in the club and for the enjoyable afternoon teas which. they had alwnys provided. He praised the efforts of the grouncl superintendent (Mr A. E. Bedford) and the green keeper (Alr IJ. A. Smith) for their work in bringing tliu green to its present perfect couditi'on, and as a sliglit token of regard from the club presented the latter with a pipe. The president tlien asked Mrs Tennent to roll up the first bowl. This was done anud acclamation a« the bowi scored a toucher, aud the green was then declared open. Play commenced at once. 'Ihe bowlers and ladies were later the guests of Mr and Mrs R. C. Tennent at a suniptuous afternoon tea, which was much appreciated by all.
