BOWLING
THE K1A TOA CLUB. THE OFFJCTAL OPEN1NG. The official opening of the Kia Toa Bowing Club's season took place on Saturday afternoon in glorious weather. There was a large attendance including # representatives of other clubs and a very delightfui tourney was indulged in. The green was in first class condition, thanks to the efforts of Messrs C. Saywell and G. Chadwick. In a plea-sant speech, Mr A. Dinm welconied the visitois and lioped that they would f-pend a bappy afternoon. He made feeling reference to the death of the cluh's late treasurer, Mr J. Ballard. and in respect to liis memory, the cluh's flag was flown at balf mast for several minutes. Mr H. M. Campbell. M.P.. Ihe cluh's patron. ivas present and in a fow appropriate remarks wished the club a most successfnl season. The first boivl was played by Mrs Dunn and the green declared open. A daintv afternoon tea was dis'pensed hy Ihe ladies. The games resulted as follows, -Kia Toa players being named first: — Laredo, Sinclair, Lincoln, White, 16 ; Upchurcli, Burfield, J. C. Brown, P.
