OBITUARY
MRS C. E. BRYANT.
It was with very deep regret that residents of* Hastings learned of the death of Mrs Catlierine Elizabeth Bryant, which occurred on Saturday night at the residence of her son, Mr Charles Bryant, Methuen street, Hastings. The dec-eased lady, who was 73 years of age, was born in the Bay of Islands, and was the daughter of Sergeant Hickey, of the 65th. Regiment, and who was on the staff of the late Sir Geovge Grey. Tlie late Mrs Bryant resided in the north for many years and about 12 years ago she removed to Napier, afterwards sliifting out to Hastings with her son. Her husband predeceased her many years ago. Of a briglit and clieerful disposition. ."Mrs Bryant made many life-long friends, and although she had heen ill for a long time, she bore her sufferings with a patience and bearing that was cliaracteristic of the spirit of the hardv pioneers of New Zealand, of whom she could be termed as one. To mourn her death, she leaves a daughter, Miss E. Bryaiit. of Salisbury, Rhodcsia, South Afriea, and two sons. Messrs Charles Bryant, of Hastings, and Mr E. Bryant, of Onehunga, and to tliem will he extended the verv deepest svmpathy in their bereavement. The funeral will leave Mr C. Bryant's residence for the Hastings Cemeterv at 10.30 a.m. to-morrow.
