At last night's meeting of the Waipukurau Borough Couneil it was decided to support the protest of the Feilding Borough Couneil against the proposed Act in regard to derating farm landsf and also to ask the member for the district to endeavour to hate fhe bill hekl over uutil next year. The couneil viewed with alarm the faet that urban lands in the borough would, to a grqat extent, be relieved from special rates made for loans raised in years gone by, thus throwing a bigger burdeu on the smaller ratepayers. Waipukurau Traffic Bridge. The Waipukurau Borough Couneil last evening reeeived intimation from tlie Public Works Depattment that it was proposed to build a new bridge over the Tuki Tuki river at Waipukurau and. that any objection should be made within two montlis. Intimation was reeeived also from tlie controllinig body, the Patangata CoUnty Couneil, that the proposed allocatiori agaixist the Waipukurau Borough was 25 per cent, The estimated cost was £22,000, of wbieh the Highways Board would pay two thirds and the local bodies the remainder. The counci] decided to lodge an objection to the assessment of 25 per cent. J Rabbit Farm. At last niglit's meeting of the Waipukurau Borough Couneil, a letter was reeeived from the medical officer of health, Wellington, stating that their offitcers bad reported that ptdvided due care was taken there was no objection to the proposed rabbit farm in Waipukurau. Those interested in the proposed company had advised the department that it was proposed to siaughter npproximately 6000 Chiiiehilla rabbits each year when the farm was undor way, It would be necessary to see that the slaughterhouse was in aecordanee with requirements. The' rouncil decided to take no action in the meantime, it being out of its jurisdiction .

Lodge Ceremonies. The installation of ofiicers of Lodge Waipukurau and Arlington Hebekeh Ladies' Lodge was held last evening. Tlie deputy district grand master, Bro. R. Goss, of Napier, assisted by Grand Lodge Officers, carried out the ceremonial work. There was a large number of visitors from Star of Napier Loclge, Karamu (Hastings), Kahuranaki (Hastings), Rangitoto (Takapau), nnd Ivia Ora (Dannevirke), The principal officers iristalled were: — Arlington Rebekeh Lodge: N.G.,_Sister B. Faithful ; vice N.G., Sister Duncau ; fitiancial secretary, Sister G. Ebbett. Waipukurau Lodge; N.6., Bro. Lovatt ; vice K.G., Bro. F. Ross ; financial secretary, Bro. F. Bayliss. At the concltision of the meeting a soeial evenitig was held, when supper was provided hy tlie ladies, and a splendid musical programme was rendered.
