LONDON, Oct. 23. Douglas Fairbanks, who, with his wife, Mary Pickford, is enjoying a holiday in London, confided to one correspotident that he wanted to retire. but could not, saying, "31ary rules " 3Iary, asked what her chief amhition was, replied, "To become a hetter actress." Thus obviously she has no interition of retiring, despite the fact that her first talkie, "Coquette," was severely criticbed in London.
