RETURN TO ENGLAND Statement Issued Hegard= ing Trip MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING.
(Received This Day, INoon.) RUGBY, Nov. 1. The I'rime Minister, Mr Ramsey AIcDoinild, arrived at Liyerpool this .morniiig, and after a meeting at which lie was greeted by the Lord Alayor and the Earl oi: Derby, lie left by special train for London. He issued the following statement to tlie press, "My visit to the United State s and Canada lias given me great satisfaction. I bclieve sincerely that my conversations witli President Hoover and other American statesmen have brought our two peoples much closer together and iniproved their mutual understanding. They liave also, I am convinced, paved the way to more effectual co-operation with otlier Powers in the maintenance of peace in the world. Strong in this conviction, I feel that thus far the purpose of my mission has been fulfilled and tbat the way is now cleared for the next step. The exchancre of views I liadd with -\Ir Mnckenzie King, Prime Minister of Canada, both on the United States misssion and on Inipenal affairs was also most advantageous and timely. Througliout my visit I have endeavoured to voice wliat I believe to be tlie peaceful aspirations of tlie British people in all parts of tlie Empire, and I liave met with notbing but the most welcome response." Tbe Prime Alinister also expressed gratitude to tbe British, American and Canadian Press, which had been almost uniformly helpful to the ends lie liad in view, and to others who had helped to facilitato the work of himself and his colleagues.
