WEDDING BELLS

' BLACK— COOK. St. Andrew's Presbyterian Chui-ch, Hastings, was the scene of a yery pretty wedding on Wednesday evening, when the Rev. D. J. A. Sliaw united in the bonds of holy matrimony Miss Lillian Mavis Cook, eldest daughter of the late Mr W, G. Cook, King street, Hastings, to Mr Gordon Black, youngest son of Mr and Mrs J. Black, of Tauranga. The church was prettily decorated for the occasion by friends of the bride, and Mr Lance Craig officiated at the organ and played the "Wedding March." The bride, who was given away bv her uncle, Mr F. Cook,* was prettily attired in a dainty froc-k of shell-pink georgette, with lace insets and uneven hem. An embroidered -veil was caught with a coronet of orange blossoms and a beautifu] bouquet 6i pink roses, sweet peas and maidenhair fern was carried. Miss Edna Cook attended her sister as bridesmaid, and was in a pretty dress of powder-blue crepe de chine, with hat aild shoes to tone. She carried a bouquet of -cream roses, cyclamen and maiden-hair fern. Mr Malcolm Taylor was best man. After the ceremony, Mrs -Cook, mother of the bride, entertained about 50 guests at the Zetland Tea Rooms, in whicli the tables were artistically decorated with flowers. Mrs Cook received her guests in a smart navy-blue silk crepe ensemble with a' naw blue liat. Mr,s Cook, the bride's grandmother, was in black ci-epe de chine. Miss Cook. (aunt of ihe bride), was in a smart lace frock and black hat. Mrs Boyen, in navy georgette. Mrs Burden, in navy crepe de chine, relieved with salmon pink. Mrs Cook (bride's aunt), was in bois de rose crepe de chine. Miss G. Cook wore a sweet frock of pink silk. Mrs F. H. Addis was in floral crepe de chine, with a black hat. Mrs Williams was in beige Vadium lace with hat to match. Otliers present were : — Mrs Shufflebotham. Mrs Martin, Mrs Rushton, Mrs Robertson, Mrs Russell, Mrs Jones, Misses Rushton, Martin. Mackerness, E. Burden and M. Burden. The usuaT'toasts were lionoured, after .which the happy couple left by car on a hondymaan tour. the bride tvavelling in a becoming frock of sliades of brown and fawn, over whic-li was wbrn a hrown fur coat. with hat and bhoes to tone. , Many beautiful gifts were received, including a numh-er of cli'eques.
