'Beceived This Day, 1 p.m.) london, Nov. 14 Concerning Austraha's GovernvLGeneral it is unofticially mentioned that Sir William Birdwood recently agreed to a three montlis' extension ot his term in India, till tlie end of November, 1930, to meet the eonvenienee of the Kuccessor, so tliat there would b i a substantial hiatus if he accepted the Anstralia office. Regarding the talk of a loeal appomtee it is pointed nut in higli quarte^s that there is no likelihood of a depnrtnre from tlie rnling of the Hon. l. s. Amery that tlie appointment of Gov-ernor-General is tinder the Crown, to which the Commonwealth could _ make rc-presentation when the list of eligibles is being considered.
