SAILING ON TUESDAY, EORGER.Y CHARGE TO BE FAOED IN TEXAS.
AUCKLAND, Tbis day. It is now definitely announced tbat John Grey, the Helensville land agent, will sail for tbe United States by tbe Aorangi on Tuesday. He will travel undcr extradition order as A. B. Croucli, and bis bertli lias been booked in tliat liame. Grey will be accompanied by liis wife, wlio will travel as Mrs Croucb, and Sborilf Bigham. The time granted by tlie court wliereby Grey could apply for a writ of Habeas" Corpus expired to-day. It was stated to-day thab 110 application will lie made for a writ and that Grev desires to return to tlie United States to face tlie cliarge tliere. Grcv will reinain iu Mt. Erlen gaol even after Slieriff Bigham lias received tbe Govermnent warrant lianding bim ovcr. Early on Tuesday morning Grey will bc taken to the sliip. He and bis wife and tlie slieriff will travel in tlie second saloon. Grev, wlio is alleged to be A. B. Croucb, is being taken back to the United States to face a cliarge of forgery involving a sum of approximately 250,000 dollars. The case will be fouglit out in the town of Belton, Texas. A grain mercliant. A. B. Croueli, disappeared from tlie town of Temple, Texas, 13 vears ago, after forgiug or altering bills of lading for grain sliipnients. Two banks were involved and they elaim tliat tbey bave lost over 200,000 dollars as tlie result of Crouch's activities.
