WORK OF GIRL GUIDES ASSOCIATION IS NAPIER. ANNUAL MEETING HELD. "Tbe committee is well satisfied witb tbe resuits of tbe year," cominented tlie annual report of tbe Napier Giri Guides Association, presented to the ai.nual meeting last night, wben tbe District Commissioner, Mrs E. M. Andrews, presided over a good ctiendance. Tlie annual report, wliich was adopteu, was as follows : — "Our numerical strength bas inipioved. l\ e now bave a total of i"6 Guides and 39 Brownies. Work among tlie Brownies is unfortunately almost at a standstill, owing to scarcity of Brownie Guiclers. A Pack is being Himed at the Girls' High Scbool. We hope to rogister tbis Pack very shortly. First-class and proficiency badge v. ork bave been flounsbing. We now liave six first-class Guides- and five oi: tiic.se are tlie proud posaessors of All Rouncl Cords. "A district paracle was beld on Anzac Day. at tlie mvitation of the Rcturnecl SoTdiers' Association. Other pavades took place on Thanksgivmg Day, ancl 011 September 29, when all Augiican Guides attended St. Jolm's Catliedral. Tbe Guides were also invited to a Scouts' Own in July. This service was taken by tlie Rev. H. B. Hugbes, Scout Commissioner. _ "Miss K. M. Wilson, a Scottish Commissioner, visitecl us during Marcli. Flie met tlie Guides at a rally 111 tlie Botanical Gardens, and also beld eeveral Guiders' training elasses, g.vmg a demonstrntion company evenmg a.- a fiiiale. As Miss Wilson bolds tbe Blue Cord Diploma, licr services were Ol grcat value. Morse, who kindly allowed us tlie use of liis property in Tennyson street. We offer our warm thanks To all our friends. "Tbe resignation of Miss Morecroft, Divisional Commissioner for Northern Hawke's Bay, is a clecidecl biow to tbis district. We are indeecl sorry to lose ber, and sliall miss her gemal presence from our gatberings. We bave presented a gold Thanks Badge to Miss Morecroft, as a token of our affection and gratitude. The balance sheet sliowed a credit balance of £40 5s 7d. Tbe retiring members on the committee were Deaconess Sanders and Miss Wbite, tbe fqinier not seekLig election. Miss White was re-electecl, wbile Mist Armour was appointed to tlio otber position. Mrs T. H. Lowry was re-electecl to tbe position of district president, Miss West to tbe position of district captain. and Mrs Andrews to tbe position o. district commissioner. During tbe evening an address was given by Miss J.. Spencer. cbief organiser of women's institiites for tbe Dominioti. In tbe course of lier address sbe pointed out tlie possibilities of co-operation between tlie women's institiites and tlie Girl Guides, and :.ppealed for tbe support of tlie latter. Sbe also exhibited various tvpes of handicraft, ancl explained bow they were made. Supper brougbb tbe meeting to a close.
