Farewell Visit
IHE GOVERNOR-GENERAL Busy Round Oi Functions To=day TO WAIROA TO=MORROW In tbe course of bis farewell tour of tbe Dominion before leaving for England, tbe Governor-General, Sir Cbarles Fergusson, arrived in Napier on Saturday niglit, acconxpaixied by Her Excellency Lady Alice Fergusson. Tbe official party comprised Captain Orr-Exving (aide-de-cauipj, Mr IV. D. A'Wantes (private secretary), and Miss Chisholni (lady-in-wai Lingj. After being xx-elcomed on tbe station bv tbe Mavor, Mr J. Vigor Broxvn, and niembers of tbe City Council, tbe ViceRegal party went to tbe Masonic Hotel. Tbe xveek-end was spexxt in private engagements, but to-day xvas a busy day. Tbis morning tlxe Gox'ex-nor-General xx-ent to Fernhill, xx-bere he unveiled a war niemorial, and later he paid a vxsit of inspection to tbe Napier Hospital. His Excellency lunched with tbe Rotary Club and this afternoon xvas tbe guest of bonour at tbe Navy League function in tbe Municipal Theatre/ Later in tbe aftenioon His Excellency planned to visit the Old People's Home at Parke Isbxnd and tbis evening he and Lady Fei-gusson will be tendered a civic farewell in tlxe Municipal Theatre. The party leaves to-morroxv for Wairoa and on Wednesday His Excellency will open the Waikaremoana hydro-electric works. He tben proceeds to Gisborne and, accompaxxied by Her Excellency, will tben visit Rotorua, and Auckland, xx-bere be xvill perfonn tbe opening of tbe Auckland W«r Memorial Museum, returning to Wellington ori Decenxber 4.
