SYDNEY, Nov. 17. Tlie State Government' s decision to take over certain collieries is regarded by tlie uiiners' leaders as a grave development. They to-day met the Federal Ministers, Messrs Theodore, Brennan and Beasley, to discuss tlie position. The miners' representatives' ohjective was to force tbe Federal Government to carrv out its promise fco reponen the mines. Mr Theodore, liowever, threw down the gage to the miners and told the leaders tlie Government was looking to them . for help. not embarrassment in the delicate situation. The Ministry took a most serious view of tbe situation and be toki them it was essential that tbe mining unions shoukl sink their differences and come forward with coustructive proposals. The conference ended without reachine any decision. Tbe wbole matter will be considered by tbe Federal Cabinet at Canberra on Tuesday. Asked if the Comnionwealtb Government would he takiug over the working of the mines, Mr Theodor© said he preferred not to discuss the matter.
