THE PAPAL TRANSMlTTER
The wireless station which is to be erected in the Vatican City- for the use of the Pope and the Vatican State is now being constrficted by Marconi,s, Limited. The station, which is receiving the personal supervision of Marchese Marconi, will embody the latest improvements in wireless design and construcitidn and will rival many commercial installations. Communications will be carried out both by telegraphy and telepliony. It is nnderstood tliat the equipment will include a beain-type transmitter and receiver and that the station will have a world-wide rauge. Reports from Bome indicate that the station is to have a power of 5:0 kilowatts. This will place it fairly higli ernong Europe's transmitters, so "far a> | "brute strength" gocs. For telephory I only sliort wavcs are to be uscd, ihe suggested wave-longth being some- 1 wliere in tlie band botwcen 15 and toi metres.
