Tlie newcomers are tbe baskotball queen (31iss May Fairey), nominated by the Basketball Association, and 1he cricket c|ueen, wboso candidate will be announced later. The Napier Amateur Athletic and Cycling Association has been, fortunato in securing Miss Euuice Heath as its candidate. This young lady is Ihe daughter of Mr and Mrs T. Heatb, of tlie Provincial Hotel, well known as ai accomplislied dancer.. Her noniination is unique in the history of the Mardi Gras, as in 1919 her mother was a cjindidate for queen honours. The basketball queeny Miss May ;Fairev, is the daughter of Mr and Mrs K. It" Fairey, of Emerson street. She was a pupil of Nelson .Park School, .and .used .to clean' up all the oppositi.on 'uT'the" scliobr'siyimmirig cliampionslu'ps.
