Vital Statistics. For the month of Novemheir the vital statistics at Waipukurau were as follows : — Birtlis, 4 ; deaths, 3; marriages, 1. Plenty of Moisture. During November 2.6S inches of rain fell at Waipukurau. Rain fell on eight days during the month. The month 's rainfall was much above the average. Drainage Board. At the Whakaki Da-ainage Board election the poll resultecl.— Mr W. JHill. 12 votes (elected) ; Dr. J. Ross, 11. The vacanacy was caused through th© resignation of Mr E. P. Williams. Waipawa Weather. The weather again broke in Waipawa yesterday, after two fine days had been enjoyed. The morning commenced fine but clouds gathea-ed later aud rain commenced to f all steadily after five o'clock and continued on until evening. Hawke's Bay Aero Club. At last night's meeting of the Waipukurau Chamber of Commerce, it was decided to write to the Hawke's Bay Aero Club, asking that body to send an officer to Waipukurau with a view to the formation of a branch of the Hawke's Bay Aero Club at Waipukurau. Suecessful Effort The Waipukurau Amateur Dramatio Society, headed hy IVlr A. Stanley Warwick, gilve a performance of "The Man from Toronto" in the Waipawa Municipal Theatre last night. The performance was in aid of the Waipawa Dental Clinic, and there was a good attendance. _ The whole of the plavers _ acquitted themselves with distinction and the comedy was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Wairoa Stock Saie. At the Weekly Wairoa stock auctioneers' sale the various yardingS of stock were small, due In part to sheariiig operations heing _caa*ried_ on in the district. The following prices were l'ealised : — Fwes and lambs, 19s 6d; Jersey heifers, £5 to £6 10s ; cows and calves, M 12s 6d ; dairy cows, £4 15s to £7; heifers, £4 12s 6d to £6;' steers, £4 6s to £8 3s 6d ; draught gelding, £16 2s 6d. Lake Waikare. Some vea-y good improvements. under the supervision of the Tourist Department, are being made at Lake Waikare, which is reSulting in popularising this beautiful scenic resort. A new petrol driven lannch with accommodation for 50 passengea-s has just been delivered from a boat building firm in Wellington and this will well enable tourists to visit all th© various outlying portions of the lake. Repeat Concort. The repeat eouccrb given by the pupils of St. J osepli''s Convent in St. Paul's Pal-ish Hall, Wairoa, drew a moderate attendance. The programme was a lengtliw and vai-ied onC, the various items being well received. Miss Doreen Hunt gave several pianoforte solos in splenclid ' style, which were much appreciated. The prOceeds are iu aid of a "Baddy's" market, which will be held about the middle of this month. Qnga Onga Library. At a meeting of the Onga Onga library committee a vote of thanks to the Onga Onga Women' b Institute for their assistance in the effort in July to increase the library funds was passed. The secretary preSented a pl-o forrria balance sheet showing the cash in hand. to be £14 10s 8d and stated that the mimber of books added to the lihraiy shelves during the year was 112. It was decided that £10 be allocated for th© purchase of new books. Dance at Omakere, A very suecessful dance in aid of the prize fund for the school children at Omakere was held in tho hall on Thursday eveuing, whert tliere was a record attendance to dance to tlie spelndid music of a Maori ordhestra, who gave their services free. Exti-as were played by various memberS of 1 orcbesti-a. The dahCers shoWed their appreciation of the music by the number bf encores demanded. The prize fund sliould benefit considerably hy the evening' s entertainment. Social Evening. There was a large attendance P1-e-sent at St. Paul's Anglican Hall, Wairoa, last Saturday, when a very exijoyable social evening was spent. A 500 euchre tournament formed the principal part of the progfamme for the evening, the following being the prize winners. — Brid'ge, Miss Croft and Mr F. Fletcher; 500, Mrs E. Thompson and Mr S. Ashhurn ; euchre, Mrs P. Smitli and Master R. Clarlt. A hand round supper was provided by the ladies. The pl'oceeds are in aid of a Christmas fund. Rissington Accident Skiddihg ili the loose shingle while coming down the Rissington cutting a two-seator car mounted the side of the steep hill and turned completely over iti the rondway. The oceupants, Alr and Mrs Harper witli their daughter, who Was drivillg, had a narrow escape from serious injury. Mrs Harper fared worst, being pinned underneath the car until quickJv reseued. She suffered an jnjured arm, and cuts and bruises. Miss Harper suffered a cut in the arm and bruises.^ Mr Harper, who was riding in the dicky seat, was thrown clear. The injured ladies were immediately taken to the nearby house of Mr Woodward, where first aid was ciuickly forthcoming at the hands of Mrs Woodward. Mrs Harper is a sister of Mrs Alfred Simpson, of Rissington.
