STORAGE OF MEAT
INYESTIG ATION S BEING- MADE AT WHAKATU. 1NQU1RY IN NEW ZEALAND. Dr. E. Griffitlis, Dr. Yickery. and Mcs.srs Haddon and Holmes, of the Cambridge Low Temperature Research staff. who are studying the storage problems of meat in New Zealand, Iiave commenced their investigations at the Whakatari works in Hawke's Bay. and are at present coiitimiing these at the Ngahauranga works of t-lie Wellington Meat Export Company. Tlie investigations involve the examination of selected lines of lamh, examination of tlie teniperatnres and humidities of the carcases as tliev pass from tlie slauglitering floor right to tlie sliip's side, and thence to Great Britain, where tlie work will he continued hy officers of tlie Cambridge Low Temperature Research Station. The investigations are being made with a view to compiling a report on the question of having New Zealand meat arrive in Britain in the hest possible condition for marketing and considerable interest is heing taken in the research es hy tliose conneeted with the meat export trade.
