AN INQUIRY HELD.
INVERCARGILL, Lasi'niglit. The Summer meeting of tbe Southlaxxd Racing Ciub concluded to-day 111 beautifnl weather. There was a largc attendanoe and the track was in good oider. The tote handled £19,218, against £19,108 on tbe second day r,t iast year. The total for the meeting was £39,487 10s, against £40,315 10s last year. At the conclusion of the last race an inquiry was held into tlie running of Lucky Light, compared srith her running in the-Waihopai Handicap on the tirst day, when she was unplaced. After hearing the evidence the judicial committee unanimouslv resolved that the owner's explanation he a rcepted. While the inquiry was in progress a section of the crowd staged a domonstration of protest, and remained on the course ~unt.il the inquiry had concluded. Concluding results : — • Shorts Handicap, 6 furlongs. — 1 Meadow Lark (B. Brodie) 1, 2 Jack a Dandy 2, 6 Royal Saxon 3. Also started : 4 Ca.terpillar, 3 Quantum, 4 Blue Metal, 8 Sudden Storm, 9 Battle Plag, 7 Francolin. Won hy lialf .i length, third half a length nway. Bluo Metal was fourth. Time, lmin. 14 4-0 secs. Summer Handicap, 7 furJongs. — 2 Salmo Salar (B. Brodie) 1, 5 Dumblane 2, 1 Abbeville 3. Also started: 6 Flying Binge, 3 Battle Maid, 7 Insolence, 8 Takaka, 13 Night Maid, 4 Vinegrove. 11 Lucky Maid, 10 Skysign, 12 Birdwood, 4 Coupling.
