GOLDING RUNS BRILLIANTLY.

AUCKLAND,, Saturday. Tbe overseas atbletes, Leo Lermond (America) and G. A. Golding (Anstralia, appeared at Carlaw Park at a special meeting to-day. Some splendid x-acing was witnessed.by a ciisappointing crowd. The fact that Lennond did not meet Savidan in the mile caused' keexx disappointment, with the result that the special 1000 yards handieap had to he omitted from the pro- , gramme. ' ■ Savidaxi raced in the 880 yards handieap. " Lermond failed to concede handicaps to the. big field, but the Ameri- ■ Can, however, finished fifth and his : time was 1 min 59 1-5 secs. Golding raced brilliantly and won easil'y the ; 440 yards handieap. He conceded 10 yards to T. E. Henry, the Auckland champion, and won by six yards. His time of 49 1-5 secs was an excellent performance. Golding and Lermond were successful ixx the rela.v race with Morgan (Hamilton) and Pawson (Wanganui against four Auckland club teams.
