A LITTLE ARGUMENT
A BOXER AND HIS TITLES. THE SETTLING ON THURSDAY. The stage in ihe Municipal Tlieatre, Hastings, is all set for the big boxing contest on Thursday night, when Artie Hay, of Hastings, will make liis effort to become a triplq champion by contesting with Jim Broadfoot of Auckland, the right to wear the lightheavyweight crown, at present held by Broadfoot. The Auckland boxer, who will reach Hastings to-morrow, Ixas been through a full programme of strenuous training, and liolds that in wanting the title, Hay will find that he had bitten of a little more than he can comfortably swallow. On tlie other v hand, Hay with two titles hanging to his belt, is also yery fit, and in effect, his contention is that lie can quite comfortably wear a third crown, and what's more, he will show Broadfoot that lie can get it. However, it takes two to start and settle an argument, and the only way this argument can be settled is with the gloves, and in the settlement boxing fans should spend some thrilling moments. As is ^ now well-known the amateur bouts will more or less resoive themselves into a hattie between Welling- . ton and Hawke's Bay, for the two-star bouts will fcature Strickland and Sarachi, of Wellington, and Thompson and Ferguson, of Hastings. The third bout will feature Napier and Waipukurau, Andrews representing "the seaside city" and Little hailing from "the busv centre." The box plan is still open at Donovan's, and as reduced admission charges are being made, wise pati-ons will reserve .their seats. Buses will return to Napier after the contest. At the conclusion of the events, the officials and contestants will be tlie guests of Mr W. McKenzie of "Tlie Hitz" at supper. Mr McKenzie extended this same privilege on the occasion of the recent Hay-Morgan contest, and his generosity is very much appreeiated.
