HEAVY YARDING OF CA1TLE. The buyers' benches at Stortford Lodge were exceptionally well filled today. when a comparatively heavy yarding 'of cattle, including about 530 head from the Mclntosh Estate at Gisborne, were offered. A big percentage of the offerings were of the extra good quality, and consequently there was a keen demand and prices generally • were exceptionally good. Builoc.ks were eagerv sought after. P.A. bringing top price, two lines realising up to £14 10s. Herefords went uj^to £13 13s 6d, one line of 16 bringing.£13'10s. Fat pows sold well, a line of Herefords at £ip 6s providing the best figure. P.A. Sold up to £9 5s and Jerseys up to £8 18s 6d. There was a good demand for heifers, Hereford again topping the market at £10 6s; with P.A. up to £9 5s, and Jerseys up to £8. There was not much call for store cows, the best price being £4 3s, but steers sold well at from £4 to £7 2s 6d. The sheep pens were on'y moderately filled, but the qualitv was well up to 6tandard, . some .specially good small lines being sent through from Taurapa Station. Store wethers sold well up to 23s 6d and there was quite a good demand for fat ewes up to 19s. Lambs sold up to 23s.
