REPORTS FROM HIGH COMMISSIONER. The Department of Agriciflture has received the following cablegram, dated 8th instant, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London : — Tallow. — Moderate demand at auetion this week at prices ls to ls 6d below previous sale rates. 627 packages offered, 332 sold Present quotations are. — Mutton : Fine 40s per cwt., fair to good 35s to, 38s, dark to dull 33s to 34s. Beef:'Sweet and mixed 37s to 42s, fair to good 34s to 36s 6d, dark to dull 32s to 33s, line 37s. Mixed : Fair to good 33s 6d to 36s, dark to -dull 32s to 33s. Gut, etc. : 30s to 32s. Hemp. — Manila easier, with moderate business at the deeline. "J" grade Marck-May shipment sold at £29 10s. Sisal marliet quiet and easier. Fair average quality No. 1 for March-April shipment sold at £33 10s and good marks offered at £34 10s. No buyers at present. No. 2 value of good marks at £33 LOs and fair average qualitv £33. New Zealand : More offering but buyers holcling back March-May shipment position as last week. No first hand saies reported^ Apples. — Demand slow and prices inclined to be easier. Californian Newton 14s, Oregon Newton (very little offering at present) 16s. Americao Stayman's Winesap 9s to 11s. Wool. — Bradford market weak. Present quotations are:— 64's warp 2s 4d per 1b, average 2s 3d, 56's ls 8d, 50' s prepared ls 5Jd, 40's prepared lss 3d
