BIRTHDAY CALLS
GOT TO BE PAID FOR NOW. Birthday calls for children have been a regular feature of Australiaii and New Zealand stations ever since broadcasting thrust itself upon these Dominions. Bpt in cities like Sydney the nightly birthday call list has grown to ' such proportions that it occupies far too much of the time allotted to children' s sessions. So an excellent method of retaining yet curtailing the system has been devised. ' In futnre, birthday greetings to children will be sent out from 2FC onlv after payment of half a crown, and the income thns derived will be handed without deduc-t-ion towards the Royal Alexandra Hospital for children. Each child receiving a birthday broadcast call under this new system will be forwarded a membership card of the 2FO Hospital League. Herein lies a suggestion for the Hospital Auxiliary, or other bodies which minister to the wai^ts of the sick and needy.
